Invicta League Game 1 Match Report

Our first match in this years Invicta League was away against the newly promoted Canterbury GC, Brian Betts and Jon Mcdaid where the first away and earned us a point with a battling half, next was Scott Tracey and Chris Down who where up against it from the very start with one of the best 8 handicaps I have ever seen with 3 birdies through 6 left the boys trailing behind, he ended up with 5 birdies in his round and the boys went down 3 & 2 but didn't give up the fight. Richard Hannam and Alan Bigley where next up a little slow start but soon got into there stride winning 2 & 1, Angus Sutton and Shaun Lawrence started fast with Gus nearly holing out on the Par 3 2nd , then came a run of 12 halved holes before winning 3 & 2, Last but not least Jonathan Doucy and Ian Pether, in a very close game with Ian coming very close to a one on the 8th hole , they stood on the 18th all square, unfortunately for us a bladed 4th shot of the par 5 hit the pin and came to rest within a foot of the hole, sometimes the luck is with you and other times"¦.

So a 2 ½ vs 2 ½ draw away from home on a course we haven't played competitively in 6-7 years I think was a good result and a solid start to our Season.
